Anne Lamborn makes dyed silk and other types of scarves – some woven, dyed, felted – in various types of fibers in various styles. Much of her color comes from having lived in Guatemala during the Peace Corps and later studying indigenous textiles. Her colors are generally intense and designs abstract.
As well as making scarves, she has completed several public art works for City of San Jose and Minnesota Percentage for Arts Program. She also works in community participatory art, including a five foot by fifteen foot piece for the Town of Los Gatos to be completed in fall, 2012. She had the opportunity to study felting in New Zealand while on a New Pacific Studio Fellowship in 2004. She currently works in handmade paper, art weaving, dyes, and watercolor at her Los Gatos studio. She holds a B.A. in art (drawing and painting) from UC Davis and an M.A. in art (design emphasis) from San Jose State University.
