Whether I am creating a character or painting a still life, I find myself drawn to the tiniest nuances that make our visual world fascinating and real - the texture of an animal’s skin, the curl of a petal causing shadows. I try to capture that in my art to help bring alive the beauty of these gems in the visual world.
I studied illustration at the Academy of Art University, graduating with a BFA in 2011. Since then, I have studied with pen & ink master John Stoeckley, and great watercolorists including Kathleen Alexander, Terri Hill, & Ted Nuttall. In 2012, I had the honor of illustrating two children’s books. I exhibit in many juried shows, and was awarded 3rd Place for Watercolor in the 2013 UArt Open. I love teaching art classes, elementary school through college level.
I focus on two forms of decorative illustration: the creation of fun characters that appeal to both the young and the young-at- heart, and highly detailed flowers and foods. Attention to detail is what connects my work and drives me in all my artistic endeavors.
