My art is done mainly in acrylics, water color and oil. I am moved by my physical surroundings, life experiences and the changing seasons. Living near Alameda Creek and wilderness, open skies, trees, wild flowers and fowl, they all attract and enthuse me. Even a nearby ranch, with its cattle, tractors, bee hives.
The vital period of creativity is a hypnotic mystery. One moves through this timeless subconscious space and wonders what happens. Along with physical and emotional stimuli and memory, new color-shapes appear before my eyes. In my travels too, such as in southern Mexico and Guatemala, the land, the friendly people, the volcanoes, the textiles, they all flow through me, changing and charging my spirit.
As a sign in a city park in San Christobal de Las Casas, Mexico affirms:
“ The silence is my word. The land is my mother. The trees are my brothers. The stars are my destiny. ”
