I paint to express how I feel and what I am thinking, not just what I see. I am a contemporary abstract artist using oil, acrylic and sometimes collage. I have recently incorporated Korean characters in my painting to express my spirit better. After selecting a word representing my feeling and thought at that particular moment in life, I try to choose color, form, and movement that will convey visually what the word means to me. I always try a new way to paint to express myself better.
I have always loved art and have been surrounded with artists in my family. I was born and raised in Korea, and came to the United States to attend a graduate school. I received a Ph.D. in Immunology from Georgetown University. After working in the biomedical field and founding a biotech, I am now fully committed to pursue my painting. I found that being an artist and being a biotech scientist, share something in common, creativity, innovation, passion and improving humanity. Difference is that as a biotech scientist I have a clear mission to develop a drug to heal the body while as an artist I have has a mission to get in touch with my inner spirit to heal the soul. Being an artist, it is a life long journey and I am planning to pursue it as long as I am able.
