Artist Victoria Bishop is based in Sunnyvale in the San Francisco Bay area. She graduated from the Gnomon School of Visual Effects program on entertainment design & digital production.
After many years in the movie and tech industries doing 3D character sculptures, she found her true passion was fine art.
Watercolor has been Victoria’s favorite medium to work in because it is very light and unforgivable. She first found watercolor as a young child but couldn’t pursue her desire due to economic difficulties and lack of opportunity in the Soviet Union. Finding watercolor again as an adult has rekindled her original passion and she has enjoyed losing herself in the fluid colors of botanical and nature artwork.
Victoria’s love of nature and the outdoors inspires much of her work. She enjoys observing the beauty inherent in the natural world and sharing this with others through her artwork, taking the time to understand and showcase details that are often missed in the hustle and bustle of today’s modern world.
While primarily using watercolor to paint nature, she also enjoys sketching, sculpting, and painting portraits. Capturing the emotion of the moment. Seeing that sparkle in the eyes. Capturing the personality within the portrait is what makes her enjoy this other facet of her work.
Victoria uses a variety of watercolor techniques to create the desired look. This includes dry brushing, as well as glazing techniques where she will build up many layers.
