Mixed Media

My work is an exploration of artistic accidents -- totally unplanned applications of my media. I nurture these accidents, studying how different pairings of design elements create new entities, taking on a life of their own. Throughout the process, I'm asking, "What if ...? as a launch pad to explore and experiment.

I start with an image, color, shape or texture I find interesting and build form there. Typically, I combine non-objective and expressionist elements with representational ones. My perceptions and feelings about the objects, textures, colors, shapes and lines around me, are my personal visual story to be told.

I love the free spirit and expressiveness of contemporary art, the honesty of primitive, ethnic, folk, and outsider art, and the emotional power of abstract expressionism. But, had it not been for the impressionists, I never would have fallen in love with art at a very young age and found a lifelong love of creating.

I earned my BS degree in advertising and journalism with an art minor at the University of Florida and studied graphic design at the Academy of Art, the California College of Arts and Crafts, and City College in San Francisco. My husband, Michael, and I are partners in our marketing consulting firm, Imagination, where I've been creative driector since 1987.
