Sculpture

I was born in Poland, studied at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem and lived with my family in Israel, Tanzania, Peru and now in the United States. Each place left a profound impression on my life, social outlook and artistic taste.

My fascination with sculpture and clay began in Peru at the studios of Felix Oliva and Carlos Bernasconi. They taught me the basics, and pre-columbian art influenced the form in which I build my sculptures. I believe my work is a social comment expressing my love of people by protraying their everyday life and dreams.

For many years I worked in clay, experimenting with low, high and pit firing. I added raku firing to my repertoire after coming to the USA. In high firing, I use very few glazes and oxides, and only to intensify the character of my sculpture.

Two years ago I began working in bronze and stone. These media present unique technical challenges, but open a variety of possibilities in form and texture to express my imagination.
