Painting and printmaking in her Palo
Alto studio, Jane constantly challenges herself to weave
the story of women into her art. The feminine strengths--
loyalty, care, the holding of family and society, strength
of purpose, guiding from behind, and gratitude --those
are the subjects of her art.
Her current work flows out of a use of printmaking techniques
to apply initial, intermediate and final layers. This printing
of paint on canvas or paper alternates with brushwork or
palette knife work to sculpt the composition to a satisfactory
conclusion.
The starting point is the yummy palette, derived from contemporary
color schemes. The painter chooses beautiful and subtle colors
to create exciting rich landscapes, still lifes and even
portraits in a non-representational style.
Biography:
Jane Peterman exhibits frequently
in juried and group shows and is a Pacific Art League Community

work. Many workshops and classes in painting and drawing
have followed, as well as daily studio work. Her time
is divided between work on canvas and various types of printmaking,
usually etching or monotypes.
