Painting
Born
in San Francisco, Carolyn was raised in Pasadena, California
and later received a B.A. degree in Art from the University
of California at Berkeley. Upon completion of her formal
studies, she continued to deveop her own ideas through experimentation
within the mediums of painting, drawing and printmaking while
pursuing her career as a librarian. Hiking Bay Area trails
every weekend for many years has provided her with an endless
variety of locales from seascape, lake, and bay to oak-studded
hills on which to focus her painting talents.
"I
fell in love with the California landscape when, as a child, I rode the Coast
Daylight between Pasadena and Woodside to visit my grandparents
every summer. Those initial impressions of ranchlands, mountains
and the blue Pacific haven't changed but have only sharpened
through my painter's eyes, and I feel fortunate to be able
to express and share them now. My magnificent surroundings
both inspire and challenge me to paint what I see, think,
and feel." |
