Janet Trenchard - Artist Statement
I enjoy working with acrylics as well as mixed media. Sometimes I’ll embed, adhere or add textures
to canvas, creating intriguing surfaces. I find that texture brings an immediacy to the piece, appealing to the perceived sense of touch. I approach a painting with no preconceptions. I just start working.
Everything develops, unfolds, twists and turns and changes until it reaches a feeling of rightness. As a former art teacher, I was constantly enriched by the experimentation going on around me daily, the endless variety of expression, ever-unfolding in it’s dynamism. I try to express that dynamism in my work.
