Painting
Karen Van Orsdol White was born in southern California
and moved to the Bay Area in the 1960s, when much of the region
was agricultural. She has studied studio art for decades, most
recently a stretch of more than five years focused on oils at
the Pacific Art League, the Palo Alto Art Center and the California
Academy of Painters. In addition, she has studied with Van Waldron
and in workshop with Camille Przewodek.
Much of White's work is completed en plein
air. She sometimes completes studio pieces using smaller
outdoor studies as a basis. Her inspirations include the
California Impressionists and others whose art reflects the
glory of the landscape and all its elements.
White has exhibited at the Triton Museum
of Art, Pacific Art League, Palo Alto City Library, Menlo
Park City Hall and Sanchez Art Gallery, Pacifica, and is
a member of the Bay Area Contemporary Plein Air Circle. |
